Crime Branch Files Chargesheet in Jammu Visa Fraud Case

The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Jammu Crime Branch (JCB) filed a chargesheet on Monday against Kartik Choudhary, a resident of Purana Pind in RS Pura, for allegedly defrauding several individuals under the pretext of securing foreign employment visas. This significant development follows an investigation prompted by multiple complaints from victims seeking employment in Portugal.

The official spokesperson for the Jammu Crime Branch confirmed the filing of the chargesheet in a competent court. The case initially emerged from a complaint that detailed instances of cheating related to a work visa for Portugal.

During preliminary verification, additional victims also came forth, bringing the total number of complainants to seven, all alleging similar fraudulent practices. In light of these findings, the Crime Branch established that Choudhary had defrauded these individuals, which justified the registration of a formal case.

The investigation delved into a variety of evidence, including bank records, cheque details, travel documents, and witness statements. The forensic examination compared questioned signatures with verified specimens from the accused, further substantiating the claims against him.

In a related matter, the Jammu Crime Branch is also pursuing investigations against a Srinagar-based firm following complaints alleging cheating and criminal breach of trust regarding Modular Kitchen installations. This inquiry arose after a resident from Sainik Colony, Jammu, reported issues with Sajad Ahmad Wani of Choudhary Enterprises Forum over a failed kitchen installation project despite over Rs five lakh being transferred for the task.

Stipulated payments made through a loan from Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Gole Gujral Branch, failed to result in the execution of the project. The complainant claimed repeated requests for work completion yielded no results, neither did the enterprise return the funds.

Additionally, two more individuals lodged similar complaints against the same enterprise for failing to honor their contractual obligations after receiving their payments. The Crime Branch’s inquiries into these allegations supported the claims of the complainants, prompting the registration of a formal case against the alleged fraudsters.

By dissecting the intricate web of financial transactions, the Crime Branch emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice for the victims of such exploitation. Further investigations into both the visa fraud and Modular Kitchen case are ongoing as authorities aim to hold the perpetrators accountable.
