Bollywood actress Disha Patani’s family residence in Bareilly came under attack early Friday morning when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire outside the house.
The incident took place around 3:00 AM in the Civil Lines area, where Patani’s father, retired DSP Jagdish Patani, and other family members were present.
According to police reports, two rounds were fired before the attackers fled the scene. No injuries were reported, but the family was left shaken. Jagdish Patani immediately alerted the local police. A forensic team recovered two empty cartridges from outside the residence.
The attack has been claimed by the notorious criminal network led by gangsters Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar. In a threatening Facebook post, the gang claimed responsibility, stating that the firing was carried out in retaliation for alleged derogatory remarks made by someone associated with the Patani family against revered Hindu spiritual leaders Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj.
The post further warned that the incident was “just a trailer” and threatened that anyone disrespecting their religion or spiritual figures would face deadly consequences. The gang also extended its warning to the wider film industry, urging it to “respect Sanatan Dharma” or be prepared for similar actions.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya confirmed that the case has been handed over to the Crime Branch, and five special teams have been formed to identify and apprehend the culprits. Additional police personnel have been deployed at the Patani residence to ensure the family’s safety.
“We are scanning nearby CCTV footage and have alerted intelligence units regarding the threat posed by Goldy Brar and his network,” said SSP Arya. He added that a formal case has been registered based on the family’s complaint and that security arrangements for high-profile individuals in the city are under review.
