Home Ministry orders civil defence drills nationwide as India-Pakistan tensions rise after Pahalgam attack

In response to escalating tensions following the deadly Pahalgam attack, the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered nationwide civil defence drills. These exercises are designed to prepare citizens for potential emergencies, including air raids and other threats. The drills are being conducted across the nation with a focus on regions near the Line of Control (LoC) and other sensitive areas .
The Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, resulted in the deaths of 26 people, primarily Hindu tourists. The assailants, believed to be linked to Pakistan-based militant groups, targeted the victims in a remote area of Baisaran Valley. This incident has significantly heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to a series of retaliatory measures from both sides.
