India is set to conduct a nationwide civil defence mock drill on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in response to escalating tensions with Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir . This will be the first such large-scale exercise since the 1971 war.
The drill will be conducted across 244 designated civil defence districts, including regions in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana. Today meeting in home ministry regarding the mock drill

Test the effectiveness of air raid warning systems.
Train civilians and students in civil defence protocols to protect themselves during hostile attacks.
Implement crash blackout measures to simulate wartime conditions.
Camouflage vital installations such as airfields and refineries.
Rehearse evacuation plans and rescue operations .
The exercise will involve district authorities, civil defence wardens, Home Guard volunteers, National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), and students from schools and colleges
