India will introduce a new FASTag-based annual toll pass for private (non-commercial) vehicles—such as cars, jeeps, and vans—starting 15 August 2025, announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on 18 June 2025.
Price: ₹3,000
Validity: 1 year from activation or up to 200 national highway trips, whichever comes first
Mode: Fastag-linked, prepaid, managed via the Rajmarg Yatra app and official NHAI/MoRTH websites
🎯 Why this move?
Designed to simplify toll payments, reduce queues and disputes, especially on routes with toll plazas less than 60 km apart
Offers potential annual savings (up to ₹7,000) for frequent users compared to monthly passes or per-trip tolls
🧭 Good to know
It’s optional, not mandatory. Regular pay-per-use through FASTag continues as usual.
Trips are counted per toll plaza crossing (for open plazas) or per journey (entry–exit in closed systems)
Only valid on NHAI-operated national highways. Toll charges on state highways or non-NHAI roads will still be charged as per standard FASTag transactions
In short: you can subscribe to a ₹3,000 annual toll pass for your private vehicle from August 15, 2025, granting up to 200 national highway trips. It’s a great deal for frequent commuters and officially announced by Gadkari.
