On January 7, 2025, the Poshan Project Kot Bhalwal, in collaboration with the Ramakrishna Mission Medical Centre and the Government Ayurvedic Hospital, inaugurated the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah. This milestone event aimed to promote healthy nutrition and awareness across the local community.

Key Themes Addressed During the Event

The event’s agenda focused on crucial nutritional themes, including:

  • Addressing Obesity
  • Promoting Men’s Involvement in Nutrition
  • Environmental Campaign Initiatives
  • Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (Nutrition and Education Together)

These themes were carefully selected to address the growing concerns around nutrition and health within the community.

Officials and Experts Highlight Nutrition’s Importance

The program was formally inaugurated by Sh. Sher Singh, the Additional District Development Commissioner of Jammu. He emphasized the significance of proper nutrition, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant or lactating women.

Special guest Swami Yajnadharananda Ji from the Ramakrishna Mission highlighted the spiritual and social dimensions of health and nutrition in his keynote address. He expressed commitment to future programs aimed at raising awareness about healthy living.

Sh. Pankaj Anand, the District Programme Officer for Mission POSHAN Jammu, echoed these sentiments, noting that the month-long celebration of Poshan Maah serves as a platform to foster community involvement in nutrition awareness.

Diverse Activities Engaged Participants

The free Ayurvedic health camp provided numerous engaging activities for local residents. Participants were able to:

  • Listen to expert speeches on nutrition
  • Take part in ‘Swasth Balak Pratiyogita’ (Healthy Child Competition)
  • Enjoy Rangoli-making activities

Mohit Bharti, CDPO of Kot Bhalwal, delivered a vote of thanks and acknowledged the vital role of the Ramakrishna Mission in promoting the theme of ‘Eat Right for a Healthy Life.’

The event concluded with calls for ongoing commitment toward nutrition awareness, encouraging participants to embody the principles learned. The integration of free consultations and health guidance session was critical in reinforcing the importance of preventive health practices.
