JAMMU, OCTOBER 21: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Jammu Police has recovered 804 grams of heroin and 1.114 kg of opium from the Talhar area of Sector Arnia, while probing a suspected drone-linked drug smuggling network under Operation Sanjeevani.
The case came to light on October 20 after Police Station R.S. Pura received information regarding alleged drug consumption by Sunny Kumar (26), son of Tarsem Lal, a resident of Kotli Mirdian, Suchetgarh. Police registered FIR No. 186/2026 under Sections 8, 18, 21, 22 and 27 of the NDPS Act.
During the investigation, police developed leads suggesting the accused’s alleged involvement in a narcotics smuggling module linked to a drone-dropping incident. Acting on these leads, a team led by the SHO, R.S. Pura, recovered the narcotics from the Talhar area.
Preliminary investigation points towards a possible cross-border connection, with drones suspected to have been used to smuggle narcotics into Indian territory. Police are working to identify the source of the consignment, its intended recipients and other suspected members of the network.
Further investigation is underway to establish the full extent of the alleged smuggling operation and trace all those involved.
