In a bold move against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached immovable property valued at approximately ₹1.20 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh. This action forms a part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at combating substance abuse in the region.
Police conducted the attachment under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act at Police Station Nowhatta, linking it to FIR No. 61/2019 lodged under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. The attached assets encompass a fully refurbished three-storey residential house and a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block housing three washrooms, along with land measuring nine marlas.
The implicated property belongs to Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Habibullah Sheikh, residing in Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal, Srinagar. Investigations revealed that Sheikh acquired this property through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking.
Following stringent legal processes, authorities identified these assets as illegally procured and subsequently attached them under the NDPS Act. The action sends a clear message that the Srinagar Police remain committed to dismantling the financial backbone of drug networks.
The authorities have expressed a determined resolve to ramp up operations against drug peddlers, continually emphasizing the necessity for public cooperation. Police have called on citizens to report any information relating to drug abuse or trafficking, reinforcing the community’s role in combatting this pressing issue.
